I was pleased to read this today because lately I’ve written lots about mindset, because it’s such a powerful way to create change for my clients.
It’s from Sharon Gaskin, an experienced consultant, trainer and business owner whose views I value. She said:
“I do believe that working on your mindset is the number one thing that you need to do to have a successful business.” Her choice of words in bold.
I absolutely agree.
Like having a traitor in the works
You can do all the marketing in the world. You can be the best leader, manager, coach, trainer in the country.
But if your mindset is saying “I’ll never make this work” or “I must make this work” your words will have a hollow ring – or worse – a desperate one. Your unhelpful mindset or desperation will seep through, without you even realising.
And this is the case even if you really ARE good at what you do, but you are just not happy with one small aspect of your role.
The worst thing is the result you get.
Instead of respecting and choosing you, your potential customers, colleagues or reports will respect and be convinced by the person whose skills and results may be no better than yours, but their mindset, confidence, actions and words are fully aligned with their message.
They come across as fully convincing and authentic.
Don’t despair though
Mindset change can be very quick. And changing your mindset isn’t difficult. We help clients do it all the time.
Fascinating, isn’t it?
